By the end of the week he teases her, instead, picks on her the way Laura used to pick on him --- gentle in his mockery, not quite brave enough to go full tilt into being an asshole. She could take it, she’d probably find it amusing, but it’s still new to him --- interacting more than ten minutes a day with someone who didn’t used to translate his toddlerspeak for the adults, read him bedtime stories, go running with him in the woods.
